TEMPERATURES RISE IN HIMACHAL PRADESH, WEATHER TO SHIFT WITH RAIN AND SNOWFALL EXPECTED FROM APRIL 24…

Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

A noticeable rise in temperatures has been recorded across Himachal Pradesh over the past 24 hours, with weather conditions largely remaining clear throughout the state. According to Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a senior scientist at the India Meteorological Department, daytime temperatures have increased significantly, marking a shift toward warmer conditions ahead of an expected weather change later this week.

He stated that temperatures in various regions have risen by approximately 2 to 5 degrees Celsius, with several areas experiencing above-normal heat levels. The highest temperature was recorded in Una at 38.4 degrees Celsius, while Shimla registered 25.6 degrees Celsius. Solan and Bhuntar also reported relatively high readings, hovering around 31 degrees Celsius.

Daytime temperatures across the state remained 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal, although no heatwave-like conditions have developed so far, providing some relief despite the rising heat. The clear weather is expected to persist across most parts of Himachal Pradesh until April 23, allowing for continued warmth during the day.

However, a significant shift in weather patterns is anticipated starting April 24 due to the influence of a western disturbance. According to the forecast, light rainfall and snowfall are likely to occur in higher altitude regions such as Chamba, Lahaul, and Kullu, marking the beginning of a brief period of unstable weather conditions.

The impact of this system is expected to intensify on April 25, when several districts may experience more pronounced weather activity. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely in areas including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, indicating a widespread change across both hill and mid-hill regions.

Meteorologists have pointed out that this temporary shift will help moderate the rising temperatures, although the warming trend is expected to continue until April 24. Overall, daytime temperatures across the state are likely to increase by an average of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius before the weather system brings temporary relief.

Following this period of active weather, conditions are expected to stabilize again. Weather activity is likely to subside from April 26 onwards, with the state gradually returning to clearer skies and more stable atmospheric conditions.

The changing weather pattern highlights the transitional phase between spring and early summer in the Himalayan region, where fluctuations between warm days and sudden weather disturbances are common. Authorities and residents have been advised to remain alert, particularly in areas prone to sudden rainfall or lightning.

As Himachal Pradesh experiences rising temperatures followed by an expected spell of rain and snowfall, the coming days are set to bring both warmth and weather variability, reflecting the dynamic climate conditions of the region.
