PM Modi Hails NDA’s Decisive Victory in Key Bypolls: “A Mandate for Development and Trust”

Date:

NEW DELHI – In a significant boost to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep gratitude to the electorate following a series of encouraging results in the latest round of assembly by-elections. Speaking from the party headquarters in Delhi, the Prime Minister highlighted the NDA’s winning streak across diverse geographical regions, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Nagaland, and Tripura.

The Prime Minister’s address came as the results solidified the NDA’s stronghold in several key constituencies, which he described as a “blessing from the people” and a validation of the government’s “pro-people” policies.

A Sweep Across the States

The by-elections, which were held across multiple phases, saw the BJP and its allies clinching crucial seats. PM Modi specifically noted the performance in the Northeast and Western India, stating that the results are a testament to the “politics of performance” over “identity-based divisions.”

  • Gujarat & Maharashtra: In his home state of Gujarat, the BJP candidate in Umreth, Harshad Parmar, secured a resounding victory with a margin of over 30,000 votes. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, the NDA’s momentum remained strong, with notable performances in Baramati and Rahuri, reflecting the strength of the Mahayuti alliance.
  • The Northeast Surge: Continuing the trend of the “Lotus blooming in the North-East,” the BJP secured the Koridang seat in Nagaland with Daochier I Imchen emerging as the youngest legislator at 35. In Tripura, the party maintained its dominance in Dharmanagar, where Jahar Chakraborti won by a significant margin.

“Mother of Democracy”

During his victory speech, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the robustness of the Indian electoral process. He noted that the high voter turnout and the peaceful conduct of the polls reaffirmed India’s status as the “Mother of Democracy.”

Focus on Grassroots Governance

The Prime Minister credited the victory to the tireless efforts of the Karyakartas (party workers) who worked at the grassroots level. He mentioned that the success was particularly sweet as it marked the first set of assembly successes under the guidance of the new party leadership.

He further added that the results in the North-East are particularly symbolic, as they bridge the gap between “Delhi and the Dil (heart).” The Prime Minister reiterated that the “Double Engine” government—referring to the same party or alliance being in power at both the Center and the State—is committed to accelerating development and maintaining peace in regions that were once considered politically volatile.

Looking Ahead

The by-election victories serve as a crucial momentum builder for the NDA as it looks toward upcoming state elections and the general political landscape of 2026. PM Modi concluded his address by urging party workers to remain humble and focused on the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

“When the BJP wins, we talk of Badlav (change), not Badla (revenge). We talk of Bhavishya (future), not Bhay (fear),” Modi said, signaling a focus on constructive governance for the remaining term.

The opposition, while securing wins in parts of Karnataka, faces a narrowed path in these specific strongholds where the NDA has consolidated its influence through this latest round of “encouraging” results.
