Young Farmer Highlights Importance of Dialogue Platform in Shimla..

Date:

SHIMLA, HIMACHAL PRADESH — A young farmer, Ankit Bramta, shared his experience at an agricultural platform in Shimla, highlighting how such events help farmers connect directly with policymakers and industry experts.

Speaking about his participation, Bramta said that he has attended the platform six times, and each visit has been useful and informative. He described it as a valuable space where different stakeholders, including farmers, government officials, and industry representatives, come together to discuss important issues.

He pointed out that one of the biggest challenges farmers face is the lack of information about government policies and schemes. Many farmers are not aware of what support is available to them or what new initiatives are being introduced. According to him, this gap in communication often affects their ability to make better decisions.

Bramta said that this platform helps solve that problem by providing direct access to information and creating a link between farmers and decision-makers. He explained that farmers get the opportunity to ask questions, share their concerns, and understand policies in a simple way.

He also highlighted the role of industry participants, saying that companies and experts discuss practical aspects like marketing agricultural products, especially apples, which are a major crop in Himachal Pradesh. These discussions help farmers understand market demand, pricing strategies, and ways to improve their income.

According to Bramta, such interactions are important because farming today is not just about production but also about marketing and planning. Without proper guidance, farmers may struggle to get fair value for their produce.

He added that every time he attends, he learns something new and useful, which he can apply in his own farming practices. He believes that these platforms are helping farmers become more aware, confident, and connected.

Bramta also suggested that more farmers should participate in such events, as they provide a rare opportunity to interact directly with both the government and the private sector.

Officials and organisers say that these initiatives are aimed at improving communication, promoting modern farming practices, and helping farmers increase their income.

Ankit Bramta’s experience reflects how such platforms are playing an important role in empowering farmers by giving them knowledge, exposure, and direct access to key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
